Getting Ready to Get Our Kicks
There has been a flurry of activity around here this week, as we prepare for our 3-week-long Route 66 trip. We have been packing, paying bills, doing laundry, cleaning out the van, getting the van washed and vacuumed, getting haircuts, picking up supplies, checking maps, plotting stops, getting the newly repaired DVD player reinstalled in the van, tying up loose ends, trying to eat up all the food in the fridge, passing the torch for the overseeing of our little building project, picking out light fixtures for the new house, finding fun car activities, and so much more. On Saturday afternoon we will load luggage, a bag of bed linens, some pillows, a bag of towels, a small baby bed, a stroller, two coolers, multiple computer bags, two life jackets and car entertainment into and onto our van. Then, very early on Sunday morning, we will add 4 adults, a nine-year-old, a five-year-old, a three-year-old and a 7-week-old, and we will hit the road. This trip has been in the makings for a year-and-a-half and is sure to be an adventure of epic proportions. I will try to update the blog regularly so you may follow along at home. Let's get our kicks on Route 66!
